Better Conditions Means Saving Lives

Perfection??? They are all human and everyone makes mistakes It is problematic to think that anyone, even doctors and nurses, will be “perfect”. They are all human and everyone makes mistakes

Major Issues One major issue within hospitals is infections. Infections can cause damage and/or death if utensils are poorly cleaned or not cleaned at all When nurses use utensils on a patient how do they know they are cleaned?

My Experience My grandmother was on dialysis and went into the hospital for surgery. Somehow the utensils were not cleaned and she got infected. My grandmother, an innocent and helpless patient, went to a hospital for a minor surgery and died because the utensils were not cleaned. I never knew or was told how and why those instruments were not cleaned.

Current Machinery utensils are cleaned by a machine called the autoclave and it is possible for it to leave behind skin, blood, or DNA. Then the autoclave is supposed to scrub the dirt and blood from the deep crevices of the instruments. If environmental services are still using string mops, upright vacuum cleaners, and wet rags to complete daily tasks, how do we know they have the right equipment to clean hospital utensils?

Did you know??? Every year over two million people get sick with a hospital-acquired infection. Hospital-acquired infections cause patients to stay on average 20.6 days and cost six times more than their original fee, leaving society at a whole paying 5-30.5 billion dollars a year Having over 100,000 patients die from infections each year, more than car accidents, breast cancer, and AIDS combined.

Solution!!! An ultraviolet emitting robot from Xenex healthcare uses a pulsed-Xenon UV light that shoots out 120 flashes per minute. The UV rays pass through the outer wall of a bacterium and damages its DNA, which stops pathogens from being harmful. It has a motion detection that halts operation to prevent accidental exposure to humans. The Xenex is twenty times more effective at eliminating bacteria than common cleaning procedures used in hospitals.

Why??? These machines are made to sterilize water, air, food, hospital rooms, and even surgical wounds. So why are we not using them to sterilize hospital utensils? he UV lights can make invisible stains visible to the human eye. This specific machine will guarantee the elimination of infections caused by cross contamination of blood. Although these machines are $80,000 they are worth the investment because they will save lives and decrease the number of deaths in the world.

$80,000??? Although these machines are $80,000 they are worth the investment because they will save lives and decrease the number of deaths in the world. It is now time to invest in new ways to guarantee the safety of the patients. Society can always do something to save a life: invest, advertise, fundraise, anything is helpful. Children are the future and society should want to help guarantee as much safety as possible . How can people not want to invest in better machinery for better conditions with the lives of the children at stake?

Hospital?...NO….. People should not have to worry about death when going into a hospital for help, especially the children Putting these ultraviolet emitting robots in children wings would help increase the life spans of children.

Quote : Brian Cruver “The biggest challenge is overcoming the way they’ve disinfected for thirty years. What they do now is the seatbelt, and the Xenex is the airbag.”
