Broken Bow, NE Location: Central Nebraska in Custer County 80 miles NW of Grand Island 65 miles NNW of Kearney 75 miles NE of North Platte Population: 3,559 93% Caucasian, 3% Hispanic 53% female, 47% male Economy: agriculture, cattle

Healthcare Facilities in Broken Bow Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center (JMMMMC) 25 bed critical access hospital Brand-new renovation of ER 30+ Specialty clinics on a weekly/biweekly/monthly basis Central Nebraska Medical Clinic Broken Bow Clinic Physical Therapy (X2), Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Chiropractic (X3), and Dental practices in town

Central Nebraska Medical Clinic 3 physicians & 1 PA In clinic services: laboratory, Xray, IV infusion, minor procedures (skin excisions, vasectomies), diabetic education classes Dr. Dave Minnick Dr. Julie Lindstrom Dr. Bob Kahnk

Family Medicine Experience Clinic (CNMC) Work with all 3 physicians over the course of 8 weeks See patients on your own, present H&P to physician, discuss assessment & plan, interpret EKGs and Xrays Wide variety of patients – newborns to age 100+, lots of OB patients, acute and chronic office visits In office procedures Joint injections/aspirations, vaccinations, cryotherapy, skin excisions/biopsies, suturing lacerations, casting, assisting with vasectomies Hospital (JMMMMC) Morning rounds ER call (~1 night/week; 2 weekends total) See patients first, do H&P, develop differential diagnoses, determine labs/imaging to order Scrub in on C-sections Observe colonoscopies
