Calling all Phonics Challengers! This has been a busy week! We have learned many graphemes for the /igh/ and /er/ phonemes.

Can you spot the nonsense word hiding amonst the real words? All of these graphemes make an /igh/ sound. i_e igh ie y Can you blend these words? flight tried cry prime spied strike tights sprite fry trike mife chimes Can you spot the nonsense word hiding amonst the real words?

We have also learned some graphemes for the /er/ phoneme butter burnt curtain churn Read these words. How many different ways of writing ‘er’ can you spot? third shirk hammer poorer mirky turned

An /ie/ game! How to play: Roll each dice. You will need: 3 dice your super blending brain! How to play: Roll each dice. Look at the grapheme table on the next slide to see which phomemes you need to blend. 3. Blend the phonemes together to read the word you have created. 4. Tell your grown up helper if the word is real or nonsense.
