WELCOME to Jefferson Morgan Middle/High School General Rules & Policies Introduction #5

School Discipline Student Responsibility & Discipline is an intricate component of the educational system. The JM discipline policies and procedures provide for not only its students protection and well-being, but also their growth. Please review the student discipline charts in your handbooks.

School Discipline After-School Detention. (ASD) On days of assigned ASD, the student is to report to the assigned room by 2:50 pm. ASD ends at 3:40pm While in ASD students are NOT permitted to talk, pass notes, or sleep and must arrive with work to do or material to read. Students absent on the day of assigned ASD, will serve on the first day they return to school. Students failing to serve assigned ASD will be assigned Saturday Detention/ Out of School Suspension.

School Discipline Lunch Detention Saturday Detention Students assigned lunch detention are to report directly to the front of the line to get their lunch. Students may bring a “bag” lunch from home or purchase a “bag” lunch from the café. As soon as the student has their lunch, they are to report directly to the Lunch detention Room. Saturday Detention Failure to report to SD will result in OSS being assigned. Sat. Detention begins at 8:30am and ends at 11 am. Transportation is the student’s/parent’s responsibility

School Discipline Out of School OSS may be assigned by any principal for a period of one to ten consecutive school days. Students are responsible for all missed work and assignments during their OSS. Students assigned OSS are NOT permitted on any school property or at any school related event during the period of suspension without the specific permission of a building principal A court citation can accompany assigned OSS.

School Discipline Social Probation (SP) SP is the suspension of a student’s participation or involvement in any and all extra-curricular activities not required as part of the regular academic classroom teacher’s curriculum, such as sports, clubs, dances, ceremonies, etc. SP can be assigned and removed at the building principals discretion and used in conjunction with other forms of school discipline.
