Compass Rose: Scale: Key/Legend: -A symbol with arrows that point in the four principal directions and help you navigate through a map -some include the intermediate directions -represents distances between two points on a map -distances given in miles or kilometers -explains what the symbols, colors, etc. on a map represent

Tropic of Cancer: Tropic of Capricorn: -line of latitude north of the Equator; lies at 23.5º N -runs through Mexico, Bahamas, Egypt, India, etc. -sun is directly overhead on June 21st -line of latitude south of the Equator; lies at 23.5º S -runs through Australia, Chile, Southern Africa, etc. -sun is directly overhead on December 21st The TROPICS lies very close to the Equator, so the area in between is very WARM!
