Also, according to Enache (2012), career development is a resource that is linked to meeting goals, control decision-making, and strategies to excel through new career values, and margin of individual choice (Enache, 2012). According to Broscio (2003), career planning consist of, “understanding your reality, analyzing overlaps and gaps in reality, and developing a written plan based on that analysis” (Broscio, 2003). The following are goal to personal, knowledge base, and career development.

Homeland Security (internship-region 5 office) Teaching Interviews Research & Grant work Education Enhancement Walden University PhD Criminal Justice & Homeland Security Policy and Coordination Start: November 28th – 2016 Introductory Courses Foundation of Doctoral Study History & Contemporary Issues in Criminal Justice 6 month Finding Opportunities (Within 1 year the goals is to start my doctorate program and gain experience) Initially, to become a Professor. There is focus on necessary skills, experience, field of degree, and degree level. Necessary skills will consist of communication skills, leadership qualities through instruction and critical thinking, and writing skills. Upon completion of any degree it is important to complete an internship that allows experience and direction towards a particular career path. Approximate start date for my doctoral study will begin November 28th. Between October 19th to November 21st I plan on finding employment, and gaining experience by shadowing or assisting professors, networking by going to criminal justice related events, reaching out to my internship location. Based on the market trend and the development of Department of Homeland Security, global terrorism – my Doctorate will focus on the recent trends in criminal justice from a diverse international thought process. According to Bloomsbury Business Library (2006), insight on self-awareness, understanding market trends analysis, planning ahead, developing self, and marketing self is essential in mapping out a specific career plan especially in higher education. Similarly, every course takes planning, organization, and precision. I would be finding experience within the City of Chicago as much Criminal Justice research and activity opportunities are available.

My goal is to be able to find employment at community colleges, and/or vocations schools. Once a opportunity is claimed with employment at a institutional facility, I would like to maintain and continue attending networking events to maintain knowledge of problematic or research areas in criminal justice. According to Bloomsbury Business Library (2006), locating a career path must be flexible with various functions. By specifically catering a new developing program opportunities are narrowed and streamlined. New developments are way to protect the homeland. I will want to understand qualitative and quantitative reasoning through the research at Chicago Council of Global Affairs, before or at the time of my course during that period.

Certification programs will make me marketable and competitive upon completion of the Doctorate program in Criminal Justice.

My 5 year plan will allow me to stay current with the constantly changing trends in criminal justice. The goals is to become an expert in my field through literature, networking within community events within and outside of the institution, understanding the public policy, and publishing research (How to become a criminal justice teacher, 2016).
