Global Village “Facebook is a global village” The whole world considered as being closely connected by modern telecommunications and as being interdependent economically, socially, and politically “Facebook is a global village” First used in 1968 by author Marshall McLuhan in the book ‘War and Peace in the Global Village’ to describe the world that has been “shrunk” by modern advances in communications. McLuhan compared the wide network of communications systems to one extended central nervous system that linked everyone in the world together
