U.S. 97: S. Century to USFS Boundary Project goals Increase the capacity of US 97, reduce congestion, improve travel time reliability and increase roadway safety Develop crossing improvements to decrease vehicle/animal collisions and allow safer wildlife migration Proposed project components Expand US 97 to create a four-lane divided highway from S. Century Drive to the US Forest Service Boundary Upgrade signs and guardrails and install rumble strips Construct wildlife migration improvements

U.S. 97: Romaine Village to Lava Butte US 97: Romaine Village Way – Lava Butte Project components Widen the highway to the west and install concrete median barrier from Baker Road to Lava Butte with gap at High Desert Museum entrance Repave highway from Romaine Village Way to weigh station Upgrade signs and guardrails and install shoulder rumble strips Purpose Improve safety Improve highway condition Additional information ODOT will also be completing another small maintenance, patching project on US 97: Bend Parkway and from Vandevert Road to Crescent. This work is intermittent and will not have major impacts on traffic.

US 97 Safety Corridor: Bend to Redmond Findings Historical Crash Analysis Over the five-year study period (2009-2013), 108 crashes were reported on the US 97 study corridor from milepost (MP) 124.40 to 133.39. The Corridor Study prioritized projects aimed at reducing fatal and Injury A crashes as Short-term, Medium-term, or Median projects. Countermeasures included: Installing speed feedbacks signs Inlaid raised pavement markers Intersection and/or segment lighting Medians on minor street approaches Restriping Acceleration and deceleration lanes Center median barriers J-turn treatments

I-84: The Dalles – Fifteenmile Creek I-84: The Dalles to Fifteenmile Creek Repave 3.8 miles of Interstate 84 from MP 84.3 (near the Union Pacific railroad overcrossing) to MP 88.1 (Fifteenmile Creek Bridge) Construct a bridge over Threemile Creek near MP 86.8. Estimated Cost: $20-25 million Will be complete by Memorial Day 2016 Emergency response plan ODOT worked to communicate the project with emergency responders (OSP, Wasco County, Mid-Columbia Fire, The City of The Dalles, and D9). The most “restrictive” stage on the project was Stage 6. Prior to it, ODOT sent out information and held a meeting with emergency response. EB lanes, east of exit 87 would be an access issue if we had a blocking accident in that location, so there was focus on troubleshooting that in this meeting. There were a lot of good ideas and we settled on removing guardrail and building a small access point to the east of 15-mile creek bridge. The attached photo was taken just prior to the GR removal.   It never was used, but it would have been a good way to access an incident if there had been one.

Seismic Bridge Replacement/Retrofit US 97: Climbing Lanes & Seismic Bridge Replacement/Retrofit US 97: Biggs Jct. to Spanish Hollow Creek and Trout Creek Bridges Project components Extend the southbound acceleration lane of US 97 from the US 30/US 97 intersection at the Biggs Jct. Interchange, and match into the US 97 climbing lane a half mile south of the interchange. Replace the existing US 97 Spanish Hollow Creek Bridge at MP 0.39 to a new seismic resilient bridge. Seismically retrofit six structures over Spanish Hollow Creek near Biggs junction and single bridge over Trout Creek north of Madras. Estimated project cost: $13 million Construction Summer 2018

US 20/3rd Street: Empire to Greenwood Primary goal to create a “Complete Corridor” of coordinated and leveraged improvements, including phasing and funding options, with a first phase ready for Construction for the 2019 Construction season. Pavement preservation on US20 from Empire Blvd south to Greenwood Ave. Upgrade ADA elements at each intersection.   Bike/Ped Rehab… infill sidewalks, bikes lanes, and/or bicycle-pedestrian paths along US 20 from Empire Blvd south to Greenwood Ave. Includes new curbs, inlets, storm drainage, sidewalks, etc. Ped Crossings including median, signage, and RRFBs at US 20@Vail Ave and US 20@Thurston Ave Sign Upgrades, to current standards on US 20 between Empire Blvd south to Greenwood Blvd. Signal Replace/Upgrades, at US20@Empire Blvd, US20@O.B.
