Putting First Things First 03.01

Learning Target I can reflect on how my roles and responsibilities impact my ability to reach my goals Success Criteria I can identify the skills and strategies I use to acheive my goals I can explain what is meant by “First Things First” and how it applies to my life

Connection to Habit 2 (you will need a separate piece of paper for the day) Look back at habit 2. Summarize what “begin with the end in mind” means to you. Include references to goals and mission statement. How do you think Habit 3, “put first things first” will connect/build upon Habit 2?

On the same piece of paper... Create a venn diagram In one circle, put something you wanted but didn’t get. In the other, put something you wanted and did get What process did you use when you ‘got’ what you wanted? What process did you use when you did not get what you wanted? Car (Got) Puppy (Didn’t Get) Wanted it Knew it would cost money Created a Plan Saved money Got a job Researched Thought it’d be cute Asked parents Daydreamed about it

Pair and Share Share with other people your statement. What similarities do you start to notice between how you and others got things you wanted and things you didn’t get?

Vocab Square As we read pg. 106 of the 7 Habits, let’s take a look at: How do we define it? What would it look like if we did it? What are some times we have already done it? What are some times where we haven’t?

Your roles On your piece of paper: Record the major and minor roles and responsibilities that you have. After you’ve listed these roles, rank them in order of their importance by numbering them (1 for most important and so on).

Closure Read pages 107-112 (we will spend more time on this next class period) Provide a brief definition of each quadrant See if you can come up with personal examples (at least 1) for each of the quadrants.
