Lion’s Den The October 9th – 13th Important News Monday Tuesday Wonderful Parents, I hope your weekend is going great! On Friday, the school sent out a flyer highlighting our Trunk or Treat event and class baskets that will be auctioned off. Each basket has a theme, and our class theme is STAR WARS! We are asking for any donation that has a Star Wars theme. This can be anything from stickers, Legos, movies, etc. Your Lion can bring in the donations to class. As noted last week, throughout the year, our Lion’s will focus on three types of writing and reading: Narrative, Informational, and Persuasive. This week, we will focus continue to focus on Informational texts and essays. Our Lions are creating an informational news article about a significant economic event in our country’s history. They could write about the Gold Rush, the 2008 financial crisis, an economic boom, etc. www.NewsELA.com is a great place to find sample informational articles, information about significant economic events, and how the article should be written/structured. In Math, we have moved into Chapter 3. I will be sending you another math newsletter that will explain in detail the concepts, formulas, essential ideas/strategies, etc. Again, I recommend regularly looking at the math book with your Lion to prepare for the next lesson. We finish a lesson every two days and it goes really fast. Lets win the week!
