Reduction Prints Using Frotage plate as multiple block

Process – Planning/Research Procedures: Class introduction to Reduction Prints – PowerPoint. Test print/decide on frotage plate. Look for any reference photos needed. Plan in thumbnails and words a reduction with one color, black and frotage plate. Individual photo conference with me. Draw lino plan as a contour drawing (actual size). Transfer to linoleum block – individual work. Paint plan on lino block (acrylic paint) one color and black. Print frotage plate. Carve away everything that will remain white and print the color on frotage print. Cut away everything that is the color and print black. Sign your edition. Class Critique – Group Discussion Rubric

We will be using… Frotage Plate Linoleum Block (planning for one color, white and black)

Reduction Process in Visuals

Color number two – darker green

You will need to print more than enough prints to allow for registration problems.

Then cut away all of the dark green

Print Color Three

Cut away everything but color four.

Print the forth, or last color on all prints. Often the last color is black
