The Creation of the New England Colonies King Charles raises taxes causing many people to leave England Dissenters: People who disagree with official business (Puritans)

Puritans leaving Great Migration: 1630-1640: 40,000 English emigrants moved to the colonies 1630: Puritans made a covenant or sacred agreement for a Christian community. Called Massachusetts

Daily Life Most people are Puritans, but not all Most people were middle class Skilled workers…Farmers, Fishers, Fur trappers Planted crops for their own use Most people lived on small farms

Question to Consider By not having large farms and growing food for ones own needs, (Not for Profit), what kinds of people did the Puritans not have to bring over? How would Indentured Servants/Slaves present problems to the Puritan colonists?
