Siena Culture Around 1800 returning residential students for HSP Housing Priority: by class status Housing Types Doubles, suites, internal bathrooms, townhouses, singles Class year hall eligibility Gendered floors & single gendered groups Mixed groups & evolution of housing
Open Housing Selection Structure: All students assigned a priority number and a selection time/date at once. Once their time is live, they can select a room that they are eligible for. Pros: less set-up time & shorter overall process Cons: Student Anxiety, Unmatched Roommate Groups, Open Rooms Updates, & Night Support
Application Based Housing Selection Structure: All students assigned a priority number, match as roommate groups and then apply for housing. Once approved for a housing type, then given a selection date/time. Pros: Student Housing Type Guaranteed, Double Check Unmatched Groups, Less Night of Support Needed. Cons: Longer Process, Data Heavy Analysis, Increased Email Communication
Tips, Tricks and Student Feedback Verify status before assigning priority numbers Create a system for repurposing priority numbers for slow bunnies Give yourself time before your license is due & next step in the process starts License App & Meal Plans: be mindful of class/hall eligibility Utilize your Student Senate, RHA and other leaders Communication to Students: Short, Direct & Visual
