Whole College Improvement Needed As a College we need to improve how we: stretch and challenge students so they reach and/or exceed their potential/minimum expected grade (MEG) differentiate to meet the needs of all students. During this session consider how you could apply your new learning to stretch and challenge and how these new digital skills could help you meet all your students needs.

Docking/Setting up toolbar Click on RW Gold icon and dock to top of screen Click on RW drop-down and choose toolbar colour. Go to general options and select ‘Clear Style Colour’ icon set. Tick the ‘large icons with text box’.

Play Tool Click on ‘Play’ drop-down and select ‘speech options’. Select and adjust voice to your preference and ‘test voice’ until happy with your choice.

Play Tool Click on the ‘Highlight’ tab in ‘Speech Options’ and select the colours of your choice. Highlight the text in your document and click ‘Play’

Screenshot Reader This is another very useful tool that allows you to select text and the RWG will read this to you. Selected Text can also be put into MS Word

Spell Check Tool Click on the ‘Spell Check’ and begin amending the document Note that you can listen to a description of any of the word choices by selecting the description and clicking on the ‘Play’ tool. Correct all the errors in the document

Vocabulary Tool Click on the RW icon until you get the ‘Study Skills’ toolbar. Select a word and click on any of the ‘Highlight’ colours. Select and highlight up to 10 words, then click on the ‘Vocabulary’ tool. Click ‘OK’ and marvel at your amazing vocabulary list!

Collect Highlight Tool Open up Internet Explorer (The RW tool is not yet set up to work with other browsers). You will need to open several tabs that you need to collect information from. Highlight 1 sentence in each tab you have opened using a different colour per page.

Collect Highlight Tool When ready, click on the ‘Collect Highlights’ tool and ensure the ‘collect highlights from multiple documents’ option is selected. Select your preferred reference format (e.g. Harvard, APA). Click ‘OK’ and marvel at your fantastic notes and included bibliography!

Over to you….. Activity 2: Using the LO2 that has been provided, spend 10 minutes identifying how you could use the features of RWG to meet the needs of at least three of the students in this group. Pair up and discuss your ideas with a partner ready to feedback to the whole group.

Practitioner Led Action Research (PLAR) Build and extend on what you’ve learnt today through practitioner led action research. PLAR will help you to practice, improve and perfect your digital skills through the academic year, with support from an ATLC or ILT team. If you take part you will be meeting a range of Professional Standards For e.g. No.1 Reflect on what works best in your teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of learners and No.2 Evaluate and challenge your practice, values and beliefs. Sign up today! We think you have the best understanding of what works well in your classroom and what you might need to change. Practitioner-led action research projects will help in improving practice and fulfill a minimum of 30-hours CPD. Staff will be supported by an ATLC or ILT through the year. Ask staff to complete the PLAR form provided. Hand in with your attendance sheet. Philippa or an ATLC will contact staff to let them know what will happen next
