Problem Solving Asking for help

Major Learning 1 Asking for help is an essential part of the learning experience. This is a skill every student needs in order to be successful in school as well as home, with peers or at work.

Major Learning 2 Skill components for getting help with school are: Decide what the problem is Decide if you want help to solve the problem Find the right person to help you Ask that person for help Use the suggestion to solve the problem.

Think about this   “Mr. Jones had just introduced his math class to positive and negative integers. He then gave the class a homework assignment on the subject of integers. One of the students, John didn’t really understand integers at all. He wrote down the assignment, but when Mr. Jones asked if there were any questions, John was silent. The next day John didn’t turn in his assignment”

Essential Question Essential Question 1 Why do you think John was unable to complete his assignment? Were you ever in his position?   Essential Question 2 What do you think he could have done?
