“New only” is very costly and wasteful Carbide Endmills are expensive. The largest expense of an endmill is the volatile raw material cost of Tungsten APT. Replacing worn tools with new every time wastes a large amount of this expensive raw material. Recycling carbide endmills from multiple sources can lead to inconsistent batches of new endmills made from mixed grade powders.

Most Tungsten is imported

Re-Sharpening and Recycling is Important

Endmill regrinding today is a very imprecise process Worn tools are collected in a manner that causes additional damage to the cutting edges, mixes manufacturers and requires error-prone manual sorting.

Why this is different. BlueSwarf technology with a balanced and concentric assembly ensures light and even tool wear from the first cut. Special handling and packaging prevents chipping edges and eliminates manual sorting. This allows us to remove less material to restore the tool to new condition and to maintain high performance. Tools are remanufactured and recoated with no loss in performance or tool life. Free shipping both ways. At the end of the tool’s life the carbide is recycled with full traceability.

Traditional regrinding changes the tool geometry, impacting performance.

Fullerton’s process “remanufacturers” tools to the same geometry as new

Reground SMART Endmills are re-coated and polished in-house

Stability Lobes for Re-Conditioning Example is ¾” 3 Flute Endmill with same Toolholder in Aluminum New in red, Regrind #1 in light blue (0.005” removed from diameter and length), Regrind #2 in purple (0.010”), Regrind #3 in green (0.015”) and Regrind #4 in burgundy (0.020” removed).

We select lobes that will work in new and all four re-conditioned specs (shown in yellow)

The Dashboard is generated that will work for the new and re-conditioned SMART Endmills

Tool probes on Okuma machines will automatically compensate for resharpened dimensions

How it works

Patent-pending tool retention system ensures repeatability and balance retention SMART Endmills are designed for reconditioning with neck relief (where applicable) to prevent stepping and loss of reach

SMART Endmills are supplied in new reusable tubes with special labeling 123456-00-123-00-10 NEW

Remove worn tool using cap to protect fingers and prevent chipping the cutting edges during while handling

123456-00-123-00-10 NEW 3 Replace original tube and check off the label to identify the tool as worn

10 Save worn endmills in tray until this minimum quantity is reached 0.7500 4FL XL WORN Scan this code with the Tooling Cloud app to submit regrind order

The worn SMART Endmills are shipped back in free flat rate box The email order acknowledgement includes a prepaid return shipping label The worn SMART Endmills are shipped back in free flat rate box

Receive the reconditioned SMART Endmills as new inventory because they will all perform the same.

Color-Coding Color coding identifies current tool dimensions. 3 Color coding identifies current tool dimensions. Also identifies whether tool is new, as-new or worn. EXAMPLE: If green on label is checked, but the tool color is yellow, it has not gone through the next reconditioning and is worn. NEW 3 3 NEW 3 3 3 NEW 3 3 3 3 NEW

When the SMART Endmill cannot be resharpened anymore The customer is paid the current rate for scrap carbide. The SMART endmill is recycled to the original material supplier with full traceability of its metallurgic properties. No mixing of different grades. The recycled powder is used to produce the same grade of carbide with exact properties as the original.

Lowers average tool cost by 40%. Reduces “Carbon Footprint” by 80%. NO loss in performance or tool life with reground SMART Endmills. Reground SMART Endmills can be co-mingled with new.

Velocity SMART Tool Life Management was inspired by the sustainability advances made with Okuma’s ECO Suite
