Essential Question 1 Brainstorm some answers to the following questions.. How can another person’s thinking give power to your own thinking? How have views on slavery changed over time? Here is a look at slavery today; who would support this!?

Essential Question 2 Brainstorm some answers to the following questions.. What’s most important for a person’s resilience? (Vocab word 2) Definition of resilience: The ability to recover quickly and keep going on. Characteristics (examples of resilience): Mental toughness Physical health Core beliefs Seizing an opportunity

Essential Question 3 What does it take to survive slavery? From the 4 characteristics of resiliency we discussed choose 1 and explain how it would help a person survive slavery. Who would like to help stop slavery?

3rd Vocab Word Abolitionist- a person who wants to end and get rid of all slavery. If an abolitionist can achieve their goals this is what it looks like for the people they free.
