Cell survival curves. A) Cells are exposed either in monolayer or in suspension culture to different doses of a drug for a given time, or to a single dose of the drug for a variable time. The cells are then washed in fresh medium and serial dilutions are plated in Petri dishes; colonies formed from surviving cells are counted, usually 10 to 14 days later.
