General Information MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS When did SNAPCHAT come out? By October 22 2012, Snapchat had not made any revenue and Spiegel said at the time that the company was not open to being acquired. By February 2013, Snapchat confirmed a US$13.5 million Series A funding round led by Benchmark Capital, which valued the company at between US$60 million and US$70 million. Is it free to use SNAPCHAT? Snapchat is an application used to share photos, videos, text, and drawings. It's free to download the app and free to send messages using it. It has become hugely popular in a very short space of time, especially with young people. Where is SNAPCHAT located? Snapchat, Inc. develops a text and photo based messaging application for mobile phones. The company was founded in 2012 and is based in Venice, California.  What is the point of SNAPCHAT? When we first heard about Snapchat, the photo-sharing app that lets you set how long the recipient can view a picture for, we immediately thought that it must be used for sexting. Sexting is the practice of sending nude or revealing photos of one's self to others. MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS

HISTORY MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS The prototype for Snapchat was started by Brown and Spiegel as a project for one of Spiegel's classes at Stanford University, where Spiegel was a product design major. Beginning under the name "Picaboo", the two brought Murphy into the project to write the source code for the application. When Spiegel floated the idea in April 2011 in front of the product design class for his final project, classmates balked at the idea of impermanent photos. Picaboo first launched as an iOS-only app in July 2011 from Evan Spiegel's living room (who was still staying at home with his father when not away at school). The application was relaunched two months later under the name Snapchat. Snapchat was released on Android on November 29, 2012. MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS

Features 200 Stickers available in private chats. Video Notes that let you record 10 seconds of video that'll loop when your friend watches. Audio Notes that let you record audio if you fancy replying in song or can't type right now. Video and Audio Calls that turns Snapchat into a phone alternative and brings it closer to rivals like Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp. Multiple photos can be sent in Chat 2.0 at once. Send photos during video and audio calls. MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS

Core functionality MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS Snapchat is primarily used for creating multimedia messages referred to as "snaps"; snaps can consist of a photo or short video, and can be edited to include filters and effects, text captions, and drawings.A feature known as "Geofilters" was added in July 2014, which allows special graphical overlays to be available if the user is within a certain geographical location, such as a city, event, or destination. The "Selfie lens" feature, introduced in September 2015, allows users to add real-time effects using face detection into their snaps; they are activated by long-pressing on a face within the viewfinder. From November 2015 through January 2016, additional lenses could also be bought from an integrated micro transaction store, which was discontinued in January 2016. 10 free lenses are cycled per-day, and previously-purchased lenses can still be used. Stories and Discover In October 2013, Snapchat introduced the "My Story" feature, which allows users to compile snaps into chronological storylines, accessible to all of their friends, or to the public. Stories are viewed in chronological order, and each segment is accessible for 24 hours. Messaging On May 1, 2014, direct messaging and video chat features were added to Snapchat, in which users can send text messages to their friends and family while saving messages by clicking on them.Rather than a traditional online notification, a blue pulsing "Here" button is displayed within the chat window if the recipient is currently viewing their chat window. If held down, a video chat function is immediately launched. By default, messages disappear after they are read, and a notification is only sent to the recipient when they start to type. Users can also use messages to reply to snaps that are part of a story. The video chat feature uses technology from AddLive—a real-time communications provider that Snapchat acquired prior to the feature's launch. Snapchat Demographics Snapchat is one of the newest social networks to hit the scene, but you wouldn’t know that based on the usage. Back in 2013, CEO Evan Spiegel said that Snapchat now shares 400 million snaps each day, a number that is sure to have increased in that time. Unfortunately, numbers on Snapchat demographics are slim. But we were able to find this tweet from BI Intelligence that succinctly summarizes some good data points. Emoji Gold Star — Someone has replayed this person's snaps in the past 24 hours. They must have something interesting to show. Yellow Heart — You are #1 best friends with each other. You send the most snaps to this person, and they send the most snaps to you. Red Heart — You have been #1 BFs with each other for two weeks straight. MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS

Filters Filters let you change the look of your Snaps. Add colored filters, the current time, local weather, speed overlays, Geofilters or any other filters we make available onto your Snaps. Weather information is provided by The Weather Channel Front-Facing Flash uses the whole screen to illuminate your selfies in low light conditions.  MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS

Snapchat: What are Lenses? They are often goofy animations that are overlaid on top of your selfie. One popular Lens, which debuted when Lenses were first introduced, is a rainbow that pours out of your mouth like vomit. Snapchat adds news ones daily, and there always only seven to choose from, but Snapchat replaces the oldest one with a newer one each day. That means Lenses eventually disappear for good. Geofilters How To Use Snapchat Geofilters? To use Snapchat geofilters you need to enable location services in your smartphone. To enable location services on an iOS device, go to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services and turn it on. After you have turned on the location services on your iOS device, you will find all the apps that use location. Turn on the location service for Snapchat if it is not already enabled by default. Don’t worry about enabling the location services for Snapchat because it promises that it won’t store your location data. Using Snapchat geofilters is very easy and doesn’t take much effort. After you are done taking a photo, swipe from right to left. Snapchat has recently introduced a new feature called geofilters. This is a truly amazing option that lets you share your geographical location on Snapchat without explicitly saying where you are. This feature unlocks new filters based on your location in addition to the already existing Snapchat filters. The geofilters on Snapchat are currently available only for a few special locations in New York and Los Angeles. But, we expect to see special geofilters for every special location around the world in the near future. MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS

Trophy Case So how do you fill up your case? Well, the difficulty is that “there is no public list of trophies,” as Snapchat writes in its guidelines. “The more you explore Snapchat, the more opportunities you’ll have to earn trophies. For example, if you reach a high enough Snapchat score, or send a certain number of stories from Discover, you might earn a trophy,” the guidelines explain. It’s pretty vague, but that’s part of the fun: figuring out how to unlock them or chancing upon a new trophy while trying out one of Snapchat’s many filters and features.  Spoiler alert: If you genuinely relish the challenge of discovering new trophies on your own, don’t read any further. But if you need a little help filling up that case, we’ve compiled an unofficial list of Snapchat trophies, complete with instructions on how to unlock each achievement. Some of the tasks may seem pretty intuitive; others, however, are a little more obscure. The list appears to be exhaustive based on the number of trophies in the case, although Snapchat hasn’t stated how many trophies there are. MORE INFORATION HERE BACK TO CONTENTS
