Drinks & Snacks Snacks Children can bring a snack to have during morning playtime. This can be a piece of fruit, vegetables or cheese. No fruit winders, biscuits or cereal bars please! Drinks Children can bring a bottle of plain, unflavoured water to school. This can be refilled during the day. We no longer provide plastic cups for hygiene reasons. Children can also have a carton of milk in the morning. Please sign up at www.coolmilk.com.

School Dinners Menus are available on the school website.

PE Kaleidoscope Class – Mondays and Tuesdays Spectrum Class – Tuesdays and Wednesday PE kit should contain: A plain white t-shirt/polo shirt Plain black shorts/skirt Black indoor pumps A plain black or blue tracksuit Outdoor trainers Please ensure your child’s name is in all of their PE kit and school uniform, including coats!

Reading Reading books are changed as and when needed by the children. They are allowed to pick any reading book from their colour band. Children are encourage to bring a book from home or select one from the reading corner to keep on their tables for quiet reading.

Behaviour Incredible Indigo – Half Termly Tea Party with Mrs Barson Brilliant Blue – Share work with Mrs Barson Good to be Green – Expected good behaviour Yellow card – Miss 5 minutes of break Orange Card – Miss 10 minutes of break Red card – See Mrs Barson As part of our behaviour policy, children in KS2 set a class target and every time they meet the target they earn a marble. Once they have collected all the marbles they get an agreed upon treat. Children are expected to follow the school’s Rainbow Values. It’s important that children treat each other well but also that they behave well to learn: listen, concentrate, work quietly, try their best.

Homework Weekly homework – This will be given out every Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. If homework is not done or books not returned on Wednesday children will have to attend homework club at lunch to catch up on the work they have missed. There will be a maths and an English task (in the front of the book) as well as their weekly spellings (in the middle).

Learning Spellings

Homework Reading – Please read your child’s school books at home as often as possible to support children’s learning. This has a huge impact on children’s progress and your support is very much appreciated. If a child reads at home every night of the week they will be entered into a draw and receive a certificate and book token if picked.

Year 3 Curriculum Along with a high focus on reading, writing and maths, we also teach the whole range of curriculum subjects: science, computing, history, geography, art, design and technology, music, RE, PE and PSHE.

Year 3 Expectations The following slides contain examples of the things children should know/be able to do by the end of Year 3, in order to achieve the ‘expected’ level. These are only some of the key areas – for the full list please see the National Curriculum for Year 3 (available online)
