SCIENCE OLYMPIAD COACHES’ MEETING DIVISION C LeMoyne College November 11, 2017

When: Jan 27th, 2018 7:30am-4:00pm Where: LeMoyne REGIONALS College (Snow Date: Feb 3)

Register with NYSSO Be sure to complete the required registration form online at www.newyorkscioly.org and submit the $225 registration fee by Dec 15th. All registration is done in EZRA. Late registrations may be denied access to the regional competition. Thanks!

New Policies for NYSSO The New York Science Olympiad Board of Directors has published a series of Policies/Procedures for Tournaments Operation. Make sure that you have completely read these policies and shared the information with all team members. www.newyorkscioly.org

Each team has the ability to choose their own conflicts. New Schedule Each team has the ability to choose their own conflicts. All events will be run as self-schedule. Most events fall into three hour windows.

On line sign up for Builds 1. Open from Jan. 7th at 8pm to Jan. 21st at 8pm. 2. Mid-State will use Ezra to handle self-schedule events. www.ezratech.us

If you do not sign up: You MAY be allowed to sign up the day of competition during the impound time, but times will be limited and there is no guarantee of availability. So, please sign up during the open 2 weeks!

Coaches Supervising Events As last year, we are asking each team to contribute by supervising one event. I will make photocopies of tests and keys. If possible, sign up for an event that you will be able to supply event materials. Experimental Design & Write it, Do it must be developed locally.

Building Events The scoring rubric will be sent to you. The team in charge needs to bring all of the materials to run the events (stop watches, dowels, painters tape, metersticks, etc). If there is something you can’t provide, contact me ASAP (1/22 deadline). You will receive the event packet when your team arrives. You will need to impound, measure and score the running of the device.

Registration In Headquarters: SC 120 Please bring (ALL FORMS UPDATED): Final Student Registration Form Medial Forms (you will retain these during event) Participant Publicity Release Forms Competitor Code of Conduct Form Vandalism Form Regional Alternate Student Registration Form Alternate Code of Conduct Form $20 Materials fee if not pre-paid Failure to bring required forms disqualifies a student/team from competition.

Buses Pull up in front of Science Building and drop off a coach to register the team. Then the Security people will further direct buses the day of event. Buses must stay parked in the upper lots. Do not park down by the Rec Center.

26 Events this year We are running all the events. 3 trial events are NOT for points, but will get medals. Alternates may compete in these events. Rules on www.newyorkscioly.org Duct Tape Challenge Parasitology Science Quiz Bowl

Medals 1st thru 10th place medals will be awarded. We have at least 20 teams registered and will run all the events to get 1-8 medals. We will purchase medals 9-10. Materials fee of $20 to offset costs.

Lunches Dolphin Den (newly renovated) a la carte Cam’s Pizza near by. Be sure to clean your room. Take a picture and return it to original condition. Rooms will be checked before the award ceremony will begin.

Score Counseling/Entry Come to SC 120 to turn in your scores, tests, and materials. Jamie & Heidi Turner will go over your scores. All Scoring done in Ezra Please break all ties before score counselling.

Final Results Competition Results become final after the last event is successfully score counselled. All medals and trophies awarded are finalized upon their distribution and in accordance to the Competition Results.
