What was Watergate? “Watergate” is a general term used to describe a complex web of political scandals between 1972 and 1974. The word specifically refers to the Watergate Hotel in Washington D.C. Major political scandal, following a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C. in 1972 and President Nixon's administration's attempted cover-up of its involvement.  More resources: http://watergate.info/
