Presentation transcript:

Dial-up Dial-up internet is a form of internet access that uses the public telephone network (PSTN) to establish a connection to an ISP by dialing a telephone number on a telephone line. The computer or router uses an attached modem to encode and decode the information into and from audio frequency signals. This form is internet access is slower than other methods but requires little infrastructure so is used by people in remote areas that do not have access to broadband yet.

Broadband Broadband internet access is a form of internet access that uses cable, generally copper, to establish a connection to an ISP directly by using electrical impulses to send and receive information. Optical Fibre is also used as a faster means of internet connection – this uses glass cables and light to transfer information. This form of internet access is used by most people as it is a affordable and fast way of accessing the internet. However, some people do not have access to Optical Fibre internet access as the infrastructure needed is not available everywhere yet.

Fixed Wireless Fixed Wireless internet access is a form of internet access that uses radio signals rather than cables to establish a connection with an ISP. This form of internet access is high speed and is useful for people in areas where access to Optical Fibre Cable is rare. This form of internet access is often more expensive than traditional internet access methods.

Satellite Satellite internet access is a form of internet access that satellite to establish a connection to an ISP by using radio waves to send and receive information. This can provide speeds as good as fixed broadband. This form of internet access is popular for people in rural areas which do not have fast speed cable infrastructure.

Wireless Hotspots A wifi hotspot is a wireless access point that provides Internet access to network devices in public locations such cafes, airports, and hotels. Businesses and schools are increasingly using wifi hotspots for their internal networks. This form of internet access is used by most people as it is a affordable and fast way of accessing the internet when not at home or you do not have wired access for broadband.

Mobile Phone Mobile Phone internet access is a form of internet access that uses mobile signals to establish a connection to an ISP via the mobile handler. There are different versions of mobile data; 3g and 4g. 4g is faster but not as available as 3g. This form of internet access is used by most people as it is a affordable and fast way of accessing the internet when not at home or you do not have wired access for broadband.
