Understanding about the devils play ground Task 1

Target audience The target audience for this short film would be someone who is a teenager (14-16) years old. It will be targeted to teenagers who live in the east London area because they would be the most interested in the film. I think it would be targeted to this audience because the age of teenagers would be the most interested in shot films and they like horror films. I think that people from east London would be most interested about the content of the short film about stranger awareness. The audience that the film is based for people who don’t know about stranger danger the short film will educate the problems in a fun and scary way by making a short horror film about it.

Target audience continued It will show what happens if you meet a stranger and trust them and it will. And this film is based on learning about stranger danger. The target person to watch this film are people in the poor to upper class range because the rich might not understand some of the language in the short film if it is slang because they haven't been around the slang saying so they wont understand it but the middle class to poor class would understand the slang words and saying because they have got used to it from there area and from a public school. But in a private school they are less involved with that type of language.

Time The shot film will be about 5 to 7 minutes long because if it is too long your audience will loose interest because it is a shot film that is meant to any be a couple of minutes. It needs to be a shot film because it is a short story and it cant drag on because not a lot of people will be interesting. So it has to be a short film so that it makes it more popular.

Purpose of product The purpose for this product is to make a short film for teenagers to warn them of the dangers of interacting with strangers using the horror genre. This is because we need to make teenagers aware of the problems with trusting a strangers and it can have many consequences because the stranger could be a paedophile, rapist, murder or even worse. And this the reason why you cant trust strangers. So we are doing this to make sure teenagers are safe and know the dangers of strangers.

Platforms for distribution and consumption The short film will be released on to multiple different social media sites some of these could be Facebook, twitter, Instagram, snapchat or even a digital newsletter. It will be put on theses platforms because most teenagers are on social media and this is where they get there influences. And this is the place where they are most likely to watch it. It is also going to be put on social media because it is easier to distribute and get around to everyone.

Task 2

Indiana jones: raiders of the last ark (fictional) The purpose for this film is to entertain the audience by having a large treasure hunt narrative theme film. They are looking for an ancient treasure. The target audience for this film was for teenagers but because it is an old film and the first audience has grown up and now they are much older. Genre of this film is the action and adventure genre this is evident in props and the are shot in exotic places and this is how we know that it is in the action and adventure genre. The narrative of this film is fictional which means that a story has been created with the main character being a male hero who rescues a girl in trouble and save archaeological sight and save an ancient treasure. This Is the gender representation of stereotype of a male saving a girl. the film is set in third person we know this because doesn’t aim anything at the audience only at the other actors. In this film there is a use of stars the main actor is famous Harrison ford who stars in one of the most famous film trilogy star wars.

BBC’s The Life of Mammals (Factual) This documentary is telling us about the Siberian tiger and how they used to be the top predator until we came along and developed weapons to kill or tame them. The Siberian tiger was all over the world in Asia, Bali, Africa and Saudi Arabia but now poachers have been killing then and they are nearly extinct and that is why the last ones are kept in captivity. The target audience for this documentary is either older people (50-100plus) for entertainment or younger people like teenagers or children (7-16) for educational purposes. The genre of this is an educational documentary. The Narrative of the documentary is straight linear. The actor is speaking to the audience as if we were there to answer him. He also uses some rhetorical questions to make use question him. So this document is in the first person tense. In this documentary the main actor is David Attenborough who is the head of the nature television programs at the BBC he also the most famous nature documentary person to ever live. He also done a very famous TV program called the Galapagos islands.

Fairy liquid advert 1991 (promotional) The promotional advert is to tell us about fairy liquid and how different the adverts are today and in 1991. the target audience is house wives or cleaners in the range range of 19 and above. The genre is advertisement. The narrative of the promotional advert is straight forward liner and it doesn’t have any flash backs. The representation of this advert is teat women in 1991 do all the cleaning and washing up whilst the men are at work. And this is a stereotype because in 1991 the men also done the cleaning but the adverts made it look like the ladies just did all the work around the house. But in 2017 everything is different, in adverts they show men and woman to show that it isn’t sexist and it shows how the world has changed In this advert they don’t use any famous stars.

Task 3

Camerawork In a horror genre film there is many types of camera shots some of these are extreme close up to see the actors emotions, they also use panning shot to show everything around and in horror films this is spooky, they also use long or extreme long shot to show something that is spooky like an abandon house and when you see an abandon house from distance it looks scary. Some shot angles are high angles and they are used to make the actor or the thing feel like it cannot do anything or feel powerless, they also use tilted angles to build tent ion and makes it feel super natural. And low angle shots make the actor feel powerful. They also use point of view shots to make us feel like we are them and it allows us to see what they are seeing. And this can make it really scary because it will be like seeing it as them not on a camera facing the actor. They also change to many different camera angles to show us the whole area and to give us an idea about what will happen in the scene.

Camera work examples Extreme close up Mid shot Long shot Wide shot Low shot Extreme long shot

Editing In horror films they cut scenes to create jump scares. They also use CGI to create mythical characters and create something that normal people cant to for an example turn there head all the way around there head, walk when they are bones and many more. They also use flashing scenes in horror films to make it feel scary and make the audience feel like they don’t know what is going on because there is flashing lights and you cant see what is happening but all you can here is sounds of people normally screaming or weapons being used. they also use transitions in horror film to shorten the story and make it more scary because the story would be in a faster pace. They use CGI to show all the flames and explosions in the film. Because they cant be done in real life because it is dangerous and might hurt someone.

Mise-en-scene In horror films they normally have the set in a dark forest or an abandon building because it gives it the creepier aspect. These are perfect places for a horror film because it is the most likely place for something paranormal and creepy to happen. In horror films they use props, usually these are weapons that could be chain saws, hammers, guns, axes, knives, machetes and many more but these are the most common in horror films. But in horror films the key scene is usually involved with a weapon. They use all different types of lighting in horror films these could consist of high key lighting, low key lighting, backlight lighting, dark lighting, bright lighting and many more. But they use dark lighting the most in horror films because it makes it the most scary when the enemies appears in the shot. In horror films they use a lot of makeup to make the characters look deformed and if they get injured the makeup artist make them look like they have actually got injured in real life. They also dress the character to the appropriate person in the film and the appropriate scene in the film.

Mise-en-scene They also use different body language in horror films. Some of the different body language could be that they are happy, they might be sad, they might be terrified or they might be angry. But in the horror genre the most used one is that the actor is terrified and you can see that in the body and the way they act. In the movie the main part was the props. It started with a mug cracking then with a computer breaking then to a knife falling on the main character and this shows that because of the props the story line happened and with out them the story would have been different.

sound In horror films they use many different sound and audio codes. They use voice over and narration to tell a story and give us an idea what will happen or what happened. They also use sound effects in horror films. Most of the effects used are weapon noises like guns being shot, knives or swords swinging and even chainsaws. They do this so that the thing don’t have to happen in real life and it sounds better when it is a sound effect. In horror films diegetic sound is used a lot they use a lot of sounds that the character can hear. For example they use a telephone ringing to build tension and make the character scared because something paranormal might of just happened. They also use sound bridges to show the different scenes happening at the same time with both of what they are saying and this is normally at a main scene when something scary is going to happen to both of the characters at the same time

sound In the horror genre they use a lot of different sound types the main one is dialog. They use this to say how they feel and what is going to happen. You can also tell a story though what they say. For instance the woman in the video she was scared about a mug and you can tell that by the pitch of her voice and what she says. In the video they use a wide range of sounds but the main one is when they use a song with a beat to show how tense the scene is.
