About this assignment: For this assignment we were asked to create a power point presentation about a certain section of our class readings. The purpose of the assignment was to refresh our memories on important grammar and punctuation rules. This assignment also taught me how to keep a presentation interesting for the viewer and how to create a power point that was simple and to the point.

Semicolons Semicolons- use between items in a series that has commas within the items. Example: I had such a busy day. This morning I made breakfast, vacuuming the kitchen, and doing laundry; The afternoon I had class at one, two, and three; and the evening I had to work, study, and prepare my outfit for tomorrow.

Semicolons Semicolon- can be used before a conjunctive adverb connecting two independent clauses. *Journalists would usually rewrite as two clauses. Example: The teacher thought the student was very smart; however, the student was actually cheating on his exams.

Colon Colons- can be used to introduce a quotation of more than one sentence. Example: Mikkel said: “I am giving the entire class A’s on their next assignment. They are such hard workers. They deserve it.”

Colons Colons- can be used after an independent clause to introduce a single-item summary or an explanation with a dramatic pause. Example: The golden rule is simple: Treat others as you would like to be treated.
