Became independent on the 6th December 1917 No longer under the Russian power

Finland and the Second World War Winter War 30.11.1939 – 13.3.1940 Between Finland and the Soviet Army Soviet Army attacked Finland Was forced to cede to the Soviet Union a few areas 23 000 were killed 44 000 were wounded

Continuation War Began on 25nd of June 1941 Germany had invaded the Soviet Union three days earlier In the summer of 1944 Finland was forced to retreat 450 000 people were forced to leave their homes
