USMC Update 24 May 2017 Mr. Chuck Girard Deputy Director/Supervisory Program Analyst Food Service and Subsistence MCICOM, G-4 (Garrison) HQMC, DC I&L, LF, LFS (Operational)

Operational Rations Approved USMC Rations MRE’s, MORE’s, UGR-M & UGR-H&S Other rations require HQMC approval FSR, MCW or UGR-A Current Ration Related Initiatives Review T/E, T/O and Ration Mix Ongoing Structure Reductions/Grade Shaping impact on deployed food service support and service capability 47% loss since 2002, future additional losses Use of UGR-A’s is not supportable (refrigeration/distribution) Small unit training team feeding: 4-6 Marines per team Alaska and Australia training challenges USMC growing to 185 (from 182K) but could go to 194K

Operational Rations UGR-M’s (no refrigeration, can or dehy items only, replaces UGR-B) Need to finalize and get it in the hands of the operational forces. Taking too long to upgrade! UGR-H&S Continue to be used for short and initial feeding prior to UGR-M’s. Continue to refine and refresh menu’s FSR Need to have the full 9 days ration mix MRE’s recent comments: Heater in cold environments is a problem

Operational Equipment Current Status USMC Equipment E-TRHS/TRHS (E-TRHS packed in small reefer) 500 each feeds 200-250 personnel EFK (Trailer mounted) 109 each, feeds 500-800 personnel Future: Modernize for EFK (long range project) TRHS Accessory kit to expand cooking capability Issue- Artic/Cold Weather Feeding Capability
