collectivist : INDIA individualistic : USA Auntie Gee was surprised by the fact of Toad’s isn’t ready yet to get married and start a family saying “ oh my god you look old enough to be a grandfather! “ because the studies show that in India the average marriage age for men is 26 and 22.2 for women. More over, Indian culture is collectivist by (scoring a 48 in individualistic) that mean they prioritize the good of society over the welfare of the individual and by that marriage is seen as a collectivist ideology. It was normal for toad ‘s age in the USA that he’s not married yet. Actually the studies shows that in the United States the average marriage age for men is 36 and 27 for women. In addition to that, the United States can clearly been seen as individualistic (scoring a 91).

HIGH CONTEXT CULTURE vs LOW HIGH CONTEXT CULTURE Strong sense of family- Individual freedom and privacy valued Puro was very shocked by the fact of toad’s doesn’t live with his parents anymore and doesn’t visit them even though toad miss his mother badly and that they are inly two hours away only. The reason of that is because India culture have very high sense of family importance and they think that they should take care of their parents when they grow up. Those action is related to the fact that Indian culture is collectivist. Toad reply puro saying that is the way of living in America. Studies shows that only 8% of men and 3% of women were living with their parents by the age of 34. Also, America is considered as a high context culture because of they believing that moving out and living alone will increase their Independency and it’s an individual freedom and privacy valued.

HIGH CONTEXT CULTURE : Reserved Culture Very rare marriage with outsiders While aysha and toad sitting on the stairs talking about their relationship aysha start crying then toad tries to wipes her tears but she return back because it’s indecent on public on account of their still not married to each other and he is foreign. Then aysha tell him to shake her hand like a business shake and go inside. This is standard in India as 80-90% of Indian marriages are arranged. Also, Marriage among different castes is still very rare and often looked unfavorably upon.

HIGH CONTEXT CULTURE : Focus on result Duration: 25.50 – 26.50 Focus on result When toad was nervous because the average call duration was 12 minutes and they need it to decrease to 6. his focus was only in decreasing the time and he want to see an immediate results mentioning that they lose money on every long call. America is high context culture because they focus in result. American business culture is a results based, get the work done sooner so we can do more work and raise the work.

HIGH CONTEXT CULTURE : Elders/authoritative people in control Aysha tells toad that she is engaged to a man called “ Aashoq” since she was 4 years old because their parents choose him for her. And they will be married soon. In India, arranged marriages are very common. The parents decide who to marry and the girl/boy don’t have the choice to choose them self. 89 % Percent of marriages in India that are arranged.
