Sales Training Modern underfloor heating systems use either electrical resistance elements ("electric systems") or fluid flowing in pipes ("hydronic systems") to heat the floor. Either type can be installed as the primary, whole-building heating system or as localized floor heating for thermal comfort. Electrical resistance can only be used for heating; when space cooling is also required, hydronic systems must be used. Other applications for which either electric or hydronic systems are suited include snow/ice melting for walks, driveways and landing pads, turf conditioning of football and soccer fields and frost prevention in freezers and skating rinks. Electric heating elements or hydronic piping can be cast in a concrete floor slab "poured floor system" or "wet system". They can also be placed under the floor covering "dry system" or attached directly to a wood sub floor "sub floor system" or "dry system". Hydronic systems use water or a mix of water and anti-freeze such as propylene glycol as the heat transfer fluid in a "closed loop" that is recirculated between the floor and the boiler. Various types of pipes are available specifically for hydronic underfloor heating and cooling systems and are generally made from polyethylene including PEX, PEX-Al-PEX and PERT. Older materials such as Polybutylene (PB) and copper or steel pipe are still used in some locales or for specialized applications. Hydronic systems require skilled designers and tradespeople familiar with boilers, circulators, controls, fluid pressures and temperature.

Sales Training A snowmelt system prevents the build-up of snow and ice on walkways, patios and roadways, or more economically, only a portion of the area such as a pair of 2-foot (0.61 m)-wide tire tracks on a driveway or a 3-foot (0.91 m) center portion of a sidewalk, etc. They function even during a storm thus improve safety and eliminate winter maintenance labor including shoveling or plowing snow and spreading de-icing salt or traction grit (sand). A snowmelt system may extend the life of the concrete, asphalt or under pavers by eliminating the use salts or other de-icing chemicals, and physical damage from winter service vehicles. Systems are available in two broad types based on heat source: electric resistance heat and heat from a combustion or geothermal source delivered hydronically (in a fluid). Arguably, electric snowmelt systems requires less maintenance than hydronic snowmelt systems because there are minimal moving parts and no corroding agents. However electric snowmelt systems tend to be much more expensive to operate. Most new snowmelt systems operate in conjunction with an automatic activation device that will turn the system on when it senses precipitation and freezing temperatures and turn it off when temperatures are above freezing. These types of devices ensure the system is only active during useful periods and reduces energy waste. Current systems are more cost effective in the long run than continual salt dumping and removal, and reduce waste by extending the life of the concrete.

Sales Training Getting started, Information you will need to know to sell and quote: (or see on-line form located on product page for more information) Need to know: Size (Gallons) Operating Range (Cut-In / Cut-Out) Temperature Pressure Options (IE: alarm on low level, wall mount bracket, surge/expansion tank, etc. see pricing for details) Or Manufacturer and Model we are bidding against.

Sales Training Model Number: GRE 07 -E7 -4/MNT-ALM Once we have the needed information, let’s work on a model number. Base Model: GRE = Glycol Feed, Residential Size (Gallons): 07 = 7 Gallons 15 = 15 Gallons

Sales Training Model Number: GRE 07 -E7 -4 / MNT-ALM Pump: E7 = 1.0GPM @ 80PSI, 115VAC Glycol Pump Pressure Range: 4 = 6-30 PSI Pressure Switch (2-4 Cut-Out) 5 = 20-120 PSI Pressure Switch (3-18 Cut-Out) * Note: PSID or Cut-Out is fixed (Not Adjustable)

Sales Training Model Number: GRE 07 -E7 -4 / MNT-ALM Options: ALM = Remote Wall Mount 95 Decibel Alarm and Silence Switch MNT = Polyethylene Wall Mount Bracket with Containment EMS05 = Dry Contact Switch Box for Home Management System

Receiving & Inspection Upon receipt of order, inspect package thoroughly. In the event there was damage incurred in transit you must notify the freight company within 3-5 days of receipt of order. Once system is inspected for damage and received in good condition, and store indoors in safe place until installing. Damaged incurred before installation is not covered under warranty. Tamper Resistant Equipment Cover LED Indicator Lights, Green Power, Red Low Level Pressure Indicator 15 Gallon Model 7 Gallon Model

Installation & Operation Before you get started… All fasteners and fitting should be properly inspected and secured before operation as they may be loosened in transit Personnel safety practices should apply at all times Safety glasses or face shields and gloves should be worn Do not service glycol feed package with out disconnecting power Close isolation valve and release pressure before servicing any components on the system All liquids in system should be drained before servicing Glycol feed package should be installed by qualified personnel.

Installation & Operation LOCATION AND ENVIROMENT Although some of the components are NEMA rated, the gear pump, pressure switch and power cord should not be exposed to direct elements. In all cases a shelter, awning or shed needs to be installed or glycol feed packages need to be installed indoors to validate warranty. INSTALLATION Once location is decided on, system need to be securely mounted to wall studs with mounting brackets (optional) or to firm level secure. Be sure that mounting pads/wall studs and anchoring bolts comply with local building codes. Glycol feed packages come standard with an 8FT power cord. Power supply with no less than 5 amps should be within 8FT of package. Extension cords should not be used at anytime. Systems can be hardwired, if need. Have only an experienced electrician hardwire system. Security access door, provided, will deter tampering and or improper setting changes. Provided, bolt secure, the security access door can be lock with customer provided padlock.

Installation & Operation CONNECTING TO SYSTEM Glycol feed package should be installed within 5 to 10 feet of system. If system is to close, it is difficult to set low pressure systems. If system is to far, pump outputs will very based on pipe size, elbows and other fittings. Residential Glycol Feed Packages should be connected to system using a minimum pipe size of 1/2” and a isolation valve should be installed for servicing. DO NOT INSTALL CHECK VALVES OR PRESSURE REDUCING VALVES BETWEEN GLYCOL FEED PACKAGE AND SYSTEM. The installation of check valve or pressure reducing valves will cause problems with reading system pressure accurately. Material of pipe should be consistent to material of system or from materials limitations chart as stated in section 6.0.

Installation & Operation SETTING THE PRESSURE SWITCH GTP Glycol Feed Packages, when specified, can be factory pre-set to your system requirements. When requested, your factory settings will be listed on label on back of instruction manual and on packing slip. “GRE Models” To change the setting of the pressure switch: turn adjustment dial on pressure switch clockwise to increase pressure setting and counter-clockwise to reduce pressure setting. Pressure Switch has preprinted scale for convenience.

Installation & Operation Pump Operations GRE Pumps are factory tested and pre-plumb for optimum efficiency. Plumbing includes: Inlet strainer to remove small particles. Tubing check valve to prevent leaking back to reservoir tank. Industrial hose assemblies for easy maintenance and replacement.

Installation & Operations Control Module Operations GRE control module is factory tested and wired. No adjustment need to be made. Module includes: 8FT 115VAC power cord Low level (cube) relay 6-Post terminal strip Low level float switch and wand NEMA rated junction box

Maintenance ROUTINE MAINTENANCE Routine maintenance in this section is referred to as checking a system once a month until a maintenance schedule can be determined. All fasteners should be check for proper operations. Maintenance and care will depend upon the usage and environment in which the glycol feed package is subject to. The following is the suggested regular maintenance checks required to keep the glycol feed system operating properly. TANK AND PLUMBING Periodically check piping, hoses and tank fittings for leaks. Y-strainers and check valves need to be free from debris. Tank should be checked for signs of bulging and cracking.

Maintenance GLYCOL PUMP The pump should be inspected for proper operation and output. Unusual noises and leaks need to be corrected immediately. Pump assembly and disassembly should only be done by qualified personnel. Wear items, like seal, carbon bearings, diaphragms and gears need to be inspected and replaced when needed. Contact us for assembly and disassembly. PRESSURE SWITCH The only wear item is the contacts. Make sure there are no shorts or wire connections problems. GRE GLYCOL MIXING Glycol feed package come supplied with mixing valve near hinge side of cover. Close isolation valve (customer supplied) and open mix valve.
