Blood and Nerve supply to the periodontium BDS III lectures Dr S. Singh

Blood supply Gingiva have a rich blood supply derived from 3 sources Supraperiosteal vessels Periodontal ligament vessels Alveolar crest vessels These link in the gingiva to form capillary loops in the CT papillae and drains in to the regional lymph nodes

Lymphatic drainage From mandibular gingival lymph nodes  cervical  submandibular  submental From maxillary gingival lymph nodes  deep cervical lymph nodes

Nerve supply Derived from branches of the trigeminal nerve A number of nerve endings is identified in the gingival CT Tactile corpuscles Temperature receptors Pain receptors
