AACPS Redo Policy Students have 3 opportunities to redo per marking period per subject area (grades of 69% or below qualify) Students will only have 1 opportunity to redo an assignment (one chance) Noted on interim and report card how many redos were completed Higher grade must be recorded. Grade will not be averaged. Redo assignments will be done at school. Students must request a redo and complete it within 10 days of the initial grade given, unless it’s within one week of end of quarter. Can redo: Assignments, assessments and individual parts of a project Cannot redo: Homework, cumulative grade of multi-part assignment, items due the last week of the marking period, county quarterly assessments

Classroom Management 5th Graders can earn Cub Kudos for being caring, safe, responsible or respectful. Cub Kudos is a schoolwide Positive Behavior System and can be traded in for special rewards in classroom when full and entered into a school raffle. There is no limit to what can be earned. 5th Graders will receive a Problem Solving Sheet if they continue to not be caring, safe, responsible or respectful after a warning. Sent home for a signature at end of day. (see next slide)

Homework AACo recommends 45 minutes of homework for 5th graders Math homework is given nightly to reinforce the skill we worked on in class that day (M-Th) Students should be reading at least 20 minutes per night each evening—class novel or self-selected Science/Social Studies homework may be given occasionally- mostly studying for quizzes and tests Homework should be recorded each night in the agenda— parents should sign/initial

Homework If homework is not completed, it will affect the student’s expected behavior grade for “RESPONSIBILITY”. It is highly encouraged that the student complete their missing homework assignments during morning work or DEAR time. It is AACPS policy that students do not miss recess because of missing homework. Please help us build these positive work habits to ensure future success! Be mindful that beginning in 6th grade, homework assignments are counted for 10% of the grade. Homework not turned in on time will be counted as a 0%.
