Tech Sector with Chancellor Kristina Johnson Colleges of Technology Representative Barat Wolfe briefed the Chancellor about the Tech Sector’s important role with SUNY— supporting its students and the economy and asked for the Chancellor’s support for the following: Tech Sector Self-Study highlighting its important role in SUNY Hosting a Conversations in the Disciplines in Applied Learning Possible “Rebranding” of the Tech Sector from Colleges of Technologies to Centers of Excellence in Applied Learning

Chancellor’s Report—Kristina Johnson Introduced her Leadership Team Shared her vision/goals (quoted JFK) for SUNY—”to prepare our students to have a rewarding and productive life” and the “Why”, and her values for SUNY. When asked by Senator Ken O’Brien, “How can the UFS help you?” Chancellor Johnson replied that, “We must constantly be reminded of our mission, rather than the day-to-day operations…we need to ask ourselves, ‘Are we preparing our students for the future.’ My “Susan Baer” comment to Chancellor Johnson

Provost Report—Grace Wang Encouraged face-to-face communications and teamwork in our day-to-day interactions; and Stressed the importance of SUNY Driving enrollment growth Addressing demographic changes Meeting critical workforce needs Embracing academic technologies General Education Requirements Timeline Year 1 – White Paper by CGLs Year 2 – Task Force study recommends revisions and processes for doing so Year 3 – Finalize recommendations and begin implementation Micro-credentialing Campus flexibility in developing micro-credentials Important role of campus governance in the process

Resolutions Recognize the seconding Monday of October as Indigenous Peoples Day Provide free access to menstrual products in all SUNY campuses and restrooms Change to UFS By-Laws Response to regulating action taken by the Charter School Committee of the SUNY Board of Trustees Recommendation for academic advisement related to financial aid Recommendation on broad based fees
