History background The NGO Forum is a membership organization consisting of international and local NGOs. 94 members (3 Association Member) 450 network members within 8 different networks and 5 National Working Group Established in 1980s The Forum was established in Europe and moved to Cambodia right after the general Election 1993. Localized to Cambodian leadership in 2005 and localized as local NGOs in 2012. Working with NECA, CCCN, DCA/CA and Joint Action Group (JAG), ACT Alliance, Adaptation Fund NGO Network (AFN), Southern Voice on Climate Change(SVA)
Some facts… energy sector in Cambodia Low electrification rate: 65% Shortage of power (import half of electricity) Electricity price is one of the highest in the region Lack of financial resources ( US$ 1 billion is needed until 2020) Electricity demand is expected to increase fivefold by 2020 The lack of supply and the high cost of energy are affecting the country’s competitiveness
