Antarctica Tourism Guide L-A Travel

What is it like? Antarctica winds speeds of 320 Km per hour have been recorded. On 21 July 1983, a world record for the lowest screen temperature was 89.2 degees celsius.

Who lives There? NO native people live in Antarctica. Scientist, their assistant, and teams of maintenance spend about a year their. In Summer a population of 2000 to 3000 people live on forty bases spread around the continent and surrounding islands. In winter the population drops to 500 when the scientists go home.

Why is it Important? Antarctica is our last continental wilderness. Its extreme climate and isolation have created a wonder land of great significance. It has a major influence on the worlds weather systems and climate to the Southern Hemisphere.
