Hydration Becoming dehydrated can lead to an imbalance of electrolytes Electrolytes – minerals that help maintain the body’s fluid balance (sodium, chloride, potassium) 16-24 oz. 2-3 hours before heavy workout 6-12 oz. every 15-20 minutes during workout Rehydration – restoring lost body fluids (after workout) 16 oz. for every pound of body weight lost through sweat Plain water is best
“Making Weight” Wrestling and boxing Compete in specific weight classes Always compete at a weight that’s right for you.
