It outlines roles and responsibilities surround research data. Planning What is a data management plan? What should be considered? 30.07.2010 Planning What is a data management plan? What should be considered? When should a plan be written? The libguide is here to help you! A data management plan outlines pretty much everything on how data are going to be used, treated and shared. It covers topics ranging from ethics, confidentiality and IP through to storage, access and re-use. I will go through each of these in more detail in a moment. Ideally, a plan is written before a research project commences. As I mentioned before, the ARC is now asking for a summary data management plan in some grant applications. Writing a plan is not a one-off, however. Circumstances change during projects and plans should be updated to reflect the changes. Research data – management and planning
