America upsets Japan Japan attacked Indochina (Ally of USA) So U.S. cut off oil shipments to the island of Japan – a big problem for Japanese

Pearl Harbor Attack On Dec 7, 1941, U.S. naval base of Pearl Harbor (Hawaii) was attacked. 6 Japanese aircraft carriers released hundreds of manned planes for kamikaze (suicide) attacks. 21 ships sunk, 200 airplanes destroyed, and 2,400 American lives lost.
