The John Neff Award 2017

The John Neff Award This is an award that is usually given annually to recognize the contributions of an AP mathematics teacher in Georgia. To qualify, an educator must: have taught AP Calculus and/or AP Statistics for at least five years, have contributed to the teaching of AP mathematics beyond their classroom, and have demonstrated excellent teaching within their classroom.

In the classroom, this year’s winner: Just started her 22nd year of teaching at Colquitt County High School Has been teaching AP Calculus for the past 15 years Has been department chair for the past 15 years. Is a Move On When Ready instructor Helped implement an AP Statistics program at her school Works with individual students to prepare for the BC exam when there aren’t enough to make a class

Outside of the classroom, this year’s winner: Helped implement vertical teaming in Colquitt County Served as a facilitator for an AP Calculus workshop serving AP teachers across south Georgia Has been invited to serve on a statewide review committee of the Georgia Standards of Excellence Works tirelessly to promote rigorous mathematics education throughout her district.

This year’s winner: Has been chosen STAR Teacher multiple times Engages students of all levels to prepare them for the next phase of their lives Inspires all students to do their best. As one student said, she “inspired me to search for my inner intelligence and to believe in the impossible.” “Inspires a love of mathematics in her students”
