Do you like the contrast in colour? What do you think of this image? Person 1: I like the fact that the image is proportional as the space for the jars does not look empty. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: it makes me feel hungry because of the use of light to allow the food to look bright which makes it appear tastier. Do you like the contrast in colour? Person 3: this image has a vast range in colours which I like as its appealing to look at. What would you say the message/purpose is? Person 4: well from the writing on the print I would assume its to get people to not waste food and they’ve presented how nice your kitchen could look if you do so. What would you say is most dominant in this picture? Person 5: the colours as that is the first thing I notice. Reference: BBC Good Food magazine, Jane Hornby, page 55, 28/10/15

What do you think of this image? Person 1: I like the lead in lines as it draws you eyes towards the sun rise. Do you like the contrast in colour? Person 3: yes the colours seem to compliment each other well. What would you say the message/purpose is? Person 4: I’d say the purpose is just to show how beautiful the natural world is. reference: the guardian, photographed by Nick Jackson, page 36 28/10/15 What would you say is most dominant in this picture? Person 5: I think that the sun rays are most dominant as my eyes lead to them. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: it makes me feel in ore of the world as it is natural yet stunning to look at.

What do you think of this image? Person 1: the tribal pattern is eye catching. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: it has a dizzy effect on my eye due to the pattern. Do you like the contrasts in colour? Person 3: I don’t particularly like the colours as they’re fairly bland and don’t stand out to me. What do you think the message/purpose is? Person 4: I think the purpose is how the print is put together to focus the eye in on the font so that you read it. What would you say is most dominant? Person 5: the background pattern as I feel distracted by it. Reference: Event magazine, front page, 28/10/15

What do you think of this image? Person 1: it is dynamic and a sense of action. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: the picture makes me miss summer as it is clearly that season in the photo. Also, it makes me want to go to Hyde Park because the image shows lots of things going on at once which makes it seem fun. Do you like the contrasts in colour? Person 3: I think the contrasts of colour in the sunset is lovely. Reference: Clash magazine, June issue, scanned 28/10/15 What would you say is most dominant? Person 5:There is a lot of things going on so I cant say anything is solely dominant. What do you think the message/purpose is? Person 4: the purpose is probably to make the concert seem amazing and get even more people to go, hence why there is close ups of people who have performed.

What do you think of this image? Person one: I like that my eyes are drawn straight to the handbag because of its colour. Also, it is simple but elegant. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: mesmerised by how little is going on but seems powerful and trendy. Do you like the contrasts in colour? Person 3: I love the colour contrast here with the red and black as it looks stylish. What do you think the purpose/message is? Person 4: I think the purpose is just to give off the theme of fashion. What do you think is most dominant? Person 5: the most dominant thing is the red bag because it is a bright splash of colour. Reference: Cosmopolitan magazine, page 67, September issue, scanned 28/10/15

What do you think of this image? Person 1: it has a smooth transition and appears continuous. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: the continuity of it makes me feel calm. Do you like the colour contrast? Person 3: I like the contrast of colour in the painting since it seems carefully thought out as I only see about 5 colours but they’re evenly spread. http://cianellistudios.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/rainbow_falls_600.jpg 28/10/15 this is the link to the photo above. What would you say is most dominant? I think the white part of the waterfall seems to be the most dominant part of the painting. What do you think the message/purpose is? Person 4: I’d say this image does not have a certain message or purpose.

What do you think of this image? Person 1: it uses semiology to represent Christmas as that’s what I think of when looking at it. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: this image makes me feel excited for Christmas as it brings back memories from previous years. http://thumb7.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/1557644/234235615/stock-photo-christmas-baubles-on-christmas-tree-on-lights-background-234235615.jpg 28/10/15 this is the link for the photo of the baul baul. Do you like the colour contrasts? Person 3: I find them very appealing in this one as the out of focus lights emphasise the red babul. What do you think is the message/purpose? Person 4: I think the purpose is to get the viewer to remember the small sentimental things about Christmas like babuls. What would you say is most dominant? Person 5: the babul, of course, is most dominant as it’s the main subject of the image.

What do you think of this image? Person 1: I like that this picture has a focal point on one of the limes as then I can focus on it. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: I feel satisfied looking at this image as the lime is so perfectly cut. Do you like the colour contrasts? Person 3: I like the way the green contrasts with the baby blue without appearing sickly. Reference: photo scanned from magazine. 28/10/15 What do you think the message/purpose is? Person 4: the purpose is probably to get you to stare at the inside of lime as the rest of the photo is blurred. What would you say is most dominant? Person 5: the inside of the lime is most dominant as it gets you to notice the detail of it.

What do you think of this image? Person 1: I think that it builds tension as its quite dynamic with what is going on. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: it makes me feel amazed with how brave that person is being. http://www.dreamstime.com/stock-photo-man-jumping-across-gap-one-rock-to-cling-to-other-over-rocks-sunset-fiery-background-element-image51355706 28/10/15 this is a link to the photo above. Do you like the contrasts in colour? Person 3: I really like the contrasts in the shadowing colours with the bright blue sky. What would you say is most dominant? Person 5: the shadowing man as he is what's bringing action to the photo, making it interesting. What do you think the message/purpose is? Person 4: to get people to feel inspired as the person is doing something out of the ordinary.

What do you think of this image? Person 1: I like the admiration in the relationship between the ant and its reflection. What does this image make you feel? Person 2: the photo makes me feel warm inside because the insect is quite cute. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/u/TvyamNb-BivtNwcoxtkc5xGBuGkIMh_nj4UJHQKuor5St433v4WWgx1J_ayxLNI-NnRG-YCYmiL7Yw/ 28/10/15 this is the link to the photo of an ant. What do you think the message/purpose is? Person 4: I think the purpose is to people to appreciate the beauty of animals. Do you like the colour contrasts? Person 3: I like the contrast in colours with the way they keep with the theme of being natural. What would you say is most dominant? Person 5: the most thing is the ant as it’s the main focus.

Evaluation By doing primary research I could get genuine opinions on the images. However, perhaps next time I could ask people less educated in photography to see what they thought to get more varied answers. The balance in the photograph of the ant and the one of the limes is very impressive because they both are very different but have shown no wasted space. Also, the layout in the first photograph of the preserved foods is satisfying to look at because there is not too much to look at in one picture but also not boring either. Similarly, the photo of the man jumping across cliffs has a nice layout because I like the way the colours are bright oranges which contrast with the shadows. References: Also, I got the print images from the college library and the others from Google Images. None of which I have taken but have used to research on and find out what people like about them.
