Has passion in life: Nelson Mandela personifies passion Sacrificed his private life and his youth for his people, and remains South Africa's best known and loved hero Participated actively in politics to oppose the apartheid movement. Seeing the unfairness and discrimination that the black and coloured people are subjected to in South Africa, he strives to end the racial segregation. His whole life is lived in the vision of creating racial equality. 'The struggle is my life' - Nelson Mandela When you are passionate, it will give you a clear purpose in life. As a result, it attract passionate people into your life. Passion is the fuel of life. It creates an abundance of energy that sustain your actions. They have this charisma and forcefulness that compels us to follow their lead and do great things.

Never give up Spent 27 years behind bars as a political prisoner Undaunted, in 1994, 4 years after his release from prison, he became the first democratically elected president of South Africa, despite being at the age of 75 Even against a powerful, repressive government, he persisted In prison, Mandela kept at his struggle and influenced greatly the young black activist imprisoned in Robben Island, dubbed 'Mandela University', signifying his great influence in the anti apartheid movement even when imprisoned. Hence, we all believe that Nelson Mandela is a great leader 'Not giving up' has a new meaning observing the life of Mandela. When faced with challenges, he kept working and did not give up to realize his dream, each time with new vigor, denying his enemy any chance of crushing his spirit.

Significant Events After Mandela’s release He plunged himself wholeheartedly into his life's work, striving to attain the goals he and others had set out almost four decades earlier. In 1991, at the first national conference of the ANC held inside South Africa after the organization had been banned in 1960 Mandela was elected President of the ANC while his lifelong friend and colleague, Oliver Tambo, became the organisation's National Chairperson.
