Endorse definition of “under-served” region Co-chairs Working Group TBD GAC members, GAC Secretariat Definition of under-served region can be found in the Working Group Terms of Reference: “The focus of the working group will be on regions under-served by the DNS industry, and on least developed economies and small island developing states.  A particular focus will be on under-served economies/countries from the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) regions.   Use this slide for diagrams or other graphic elements.

Facilitation of the ccTLD survey (developed by the GAC Leadership) among GAC members to show how ccTLDs are managed subsequently providing the under-served region with practical guidance for strong management of their own ccTLDs. Co-chairs Working Group Completed ccNSO, GAC Leadership, GAC Secretariat, GAC members   Responses to the survey, shared with the GAC, are contained in two documents: survey analysis/overview collated raw data Individual survey responses are also available 4. Research the number of countries defined as under- served, identify their needs and develop a focused approach on addressing those needs while progressing with any necessary support to facilitate representation and assistance to the under-served regions. Engage in discussions with relevant areas of ICANN including applicant support, global stakeholder engagement, government engagement, regional Vice-Presidents, ICANN fellowship, the ICANN academy and others to coordinate services (existing and new) for the under-served countries Co-chairs Working Group Hyderabad GAC Secretariat, GE/GSE team, Strategy Groups e.g. Africa, LAC and Middle East Strategy. Develop an implementation framework/work plan to be circulated to GAC for comments and endorsement.   6. Liaise with the GAC Leadership to ensure that the output of the Under-served region WG is incorporated in the GAC-Travel support policy TBD GAC Secretariat, GAC Leadership Formal agreement on changes to the GAC-Travel support rules. 7. Review the domain name industry (including registries and registrars) in regions currently under- served in an effort to grow and develop these. Engage the gTLD Review Working Group and share challenges and lessons learned as well as recommendations for growth of the DNS industry of the under-served regions to contribute to outcomes for the next round of new gTLDs. Capacity building,  to enable increased and meaningful participation of GAC members from under-served regions Co-Chairs Working Group   Work with GSE/GE on planned regional outreach specific to capacity building for GAC Work with GE/GSE to see what is already translated Work with GSE/GE to raise awareness for F2F at ICANN meetings, as well as what is regularly asked by Governments for Kit TBD GAC Leadership, GAC Secretariat, GE/GSE, Other GAC WGs Document containing outreach activities, plans and programs for the under-served regions GAC induction portfolio -Capacity building workshops to increase understanding of ICANN policy issues to enable meaningful participation in GAC WG’s and Cross Constituency WG’s -More translated material for GAC members in the under-served regions -Development of ICANN issues and policy briefings from the ACIG GAC Secretariat, targeted at the local level for these regions -Face-to-face meetings during formal GAC meetings -A range of best practice support, advice and assistance mechanisms aimed at meeting the working group’s objectives Development of a GAC Newcomer Engagement Kit -Capacity building for other GAC working groups e.g. PSWG
