The Challenge: Low rates of college completion among students Learners enter community colleges not ready for college level coursework Students also often arrive at college facing other non-academic challenges such as: Work/family obligations Limited experience navigating the complexities of higher education and related requirements Underprepared students face more pressing challenges Urgency to simultaneously address college-level coursework and to make new social/financial/academic adjustments The proportion of college ready students is even lower among older and other non traditional learners

Supporting Research Three out of ten community college students earn a degree or credential within six years of enrollment Promising approaches to program delivery: Acceleration Contextualization Student Support Hybrid Unlocking the Gate (2011)
