TELEVISION IN INDONESIA TVRI is the first television channel in Indonesia, broacasted since 1962 in Jakarta. The first broadcast showed the Commemoration Ceremony, the seventeenth Independence Day Commemoration at State Palace in Jakarta. TVRI then covered ASIAN GAMES which was held in Jakarta and in front of Mall Aquatic Fantasy Telaga Golf. TVRI has 2 Programs Jakarta, 8 VHF channel which was aired since April 1989 with single broadcast news English, called Six Thirty Report for thirty minutes at 18.30 WIB.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA RCTI (Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia)is the first private television channel in Indonesia). RCTI broadcasted on 13 November 1988 and officially opened on 24 Agustus 1989 and only can be captured by subscribers who have decoder and pay monthly fee. RCTI released its decoder in 1989. The government allowed RCTI to broadcast nationally since 1990 and it made into reality in the end of 1991. Since March 2004, RCTI owned by Media Nusantara Citra.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA TPI firstly broadcasted on 2 January 1991 for 2 hours from 08.00-10.00 WIB. TPI was officially opened by Presiden Soeharto on 23 Januari 1991 in Studio 12 TVRI Senayan. In the beginning , TPI only broadcasted educative program and cooperate with Department of Education and Culture that broadcasted lesson materials for high school lesson materials. TPI shared the channels with TVRI. Gradually TPI reduced educative mision by broadcasting other programs, including quizes and electronic sinema.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA ANTV was owned by a conglomerate Aburizal Bakrie and nowmanaged by his son, Anindya Bakrie who becomes Presiden Director of ANTV. The media Conglomerate from United States, Rupert Murdoch bought 20% of ANTV shares in 30 September 2005 through his corporation in Hong Kong, Star TV. The market of ANTV now is about 5% of 180 million spectators.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA SCTV, formerly was abbreviation of Surabaya Central Televisi which was aired firstly on 24 August 1990 in Surabaya and reach the area of Surabaya and surroundings. In 1993, SCTV aired nationally. Gradually, in 1993-1998 SCTV moved it’s base of national broadcast operation from Surabaya to Jakarta. Today, the ownership of SCTV owned by the group of Elang Mahkota Teknologi through PT.Surya Citra Media Tbk. With President Director Fofo Sariaatmadja.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA Indosiar operated from Daan Mogot since 1995. Indosiar was established and owned by Grup Salim through PT. Indosiar Karya Media Tbk. which was noted in Bursa Efek Jakarta.

Formerly, the concept was a bit different with others since it broadcasted for 24 hours and focused its programs on newscast. Today, MetroTV include the entertainment elements in their programs. Metro TV is the first station in Indonesia that broadcast the news in mandarin and the only TV station in Indonesia which does not broadcast electronic cinema. Metro TV is also broadcast international program in english.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA Trans TV or Televisi Transformasi Indonesia is owned by conglomerate Chairul Tanjung with his Para Group corporation. This station firstly broadcast on 10 November 2001. Trans TV is sub company of PT. Trans Corpora with its headquarter at TransTV studio, Jalan Kapten Pierre Tendean, Jakarta Selatan. Trans TV built the relay station in Bandung and Jakarta.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA Global TV firstly was private television station in Jakarta which was broaden its broadcast to other five big cities. Global TV was establish in 2002 and owned by Media Nusantara Citra. In the begining it was established to relay MTV Asia program which were relayed trough ANTV. But then Global TV broadcast non-MTV programs by dividing 8 hours for Global TV, 8 hours for MTV and 8 hours for Nickleodeon.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA TV One was formally Lativi. tvOne was establish in 2002 by Abdul Latief with the consept exposing programs on mystical, erotic, crime news, and some other entertainments. In 14 Februari 2008, Lativi officially change its name into tvOne with the composition : 70% news, the rest is combination of sport and entertainment program. The composition of share ownership consist of PT. Visi Media Asia amount of 49%, PT. Redal Semesta 31%, Good Response Ltd 10%, and Promise Result amount of 10%.

TELEVISION IN INDONESIA It was established with the permit from Trade and Industry Department with the name TV7 which is share mostly owned by the group of Kompas Gramedia (KKG). In 22 Maret 2000 the existance of TV7 was announce in Berita Negara as PT Duta Visual Nusantara Tivi Tujuh. In 4 Agustus 2006, Para Group trough PT. Trans Corpora officially bought 49% share PT Duta Visual Nusantara Tivi 7. in 15 Desember 2006 was declare as Trans7 anniversary.
