Assignment

The English as a world language is very strong because many people in the world would want to learn as a tool for many benefits of lower level as very important, recognized as a national language in countries such as India. The increase is linked with English history that this has had with the passing of time, and its origins colonialism being one of its most representative history. Through history since spread through the conquests of the British Empire submerging the vast majority of languages present in such populations after conquering the US and ensure the expansion of their language in several regions and in other parts of the story as times Shakespeare or the invasions of the Vikings of Scandinavia and France. We can see how over time the English by many different Argue has expanded and dominating as one of the languages of vital importance if not the first, because it is a very accessible language and opens more doors and possibilities. The English has expanded into the world and communication being a very influential language in globalization, in addition to becoming an official mother tongue, including as a result of this the disappearance of languages that cannot compete against the English.

The English goes hand in hand with globalization and technology, the English almost dominates over most of the languages that are being or only weakness the lack of skill or ability in the percentage of people who for some reason do not dominate or speak English. Some insist that linguistic evolution will continue its ongoing future and that the English could optionally be overshadowed by languages like Latin, Phoenician or Sanskrit or Sogdian. There are specialist English David Crystal, thought to be the first time today that we have a language whose expansion is generally shared globally by many places in the world, and that there is no precedent that the English will disappear or be replaced by other languages John McWhorter, a linguist Manhattan Institute think the English dominates in many ways over other existing languages. Starting the new millennium some scholars say one to four world populations and introduce the English language. It is a language very common used for practical uses such as science uses to guidelines on air traffic control is consolidated also on the internet since 80% of the electronic information to buy online is in English.

The world faces a future of people speaking more than one language, with English no longer seen as likely to become dominant. English is likely to remain one of the world’s most important languages for the foreseeable future, but its future is more problematic and complex. The share of the world’s population that speaks English as a native language is falling The idea of English becoming the world language to the exclusion of others “is past its sell-by date,” Graddol says. Instead, its major contribution will be in creating new generations of bilingual and multilingual speakers, he reports. A multi-lingual population is already the case in much of the world and is becoming more common in the United States. Indeed, the Census Bureau reported last year that nearly one American in five speaks a language other than English at home, with Spanish leading, and Chinese growing fast. While it is important to learn English, he added, politicians and educators need to realize that doesn’t mean abandoning the native language.

For example, he said, in the early years of the Internet it was dominated by sites in English, but in recent years there has been a proliferation of non-English sites, especially Spanish, German, French, Japanese and others. Nonetheless, English is strong as a second language, and teaching it has become a growth industry, said Montgomery, a Seattle-based geologist and energy consultant. “The world’s language system, having evolved over centuries, has reached a point of crisis and is rapidly restructuring,” Graddol says. In this process as many as 90 percent of the 6,000 or so languages spoken around the world may be doomed to extinction, he estimated.

rationale

This article is based on three major items This article is based on three major items. The first is “English-a Global Language?” which tells us about the spread of English and its origins. The second is “As English´s dominace continues, linguists see few threats to its rule” which refers us as English has been dominating between languages and as its continuity could be affected. The third is “English won't dominate as world language” which says that English is considered as a second language in many speakers and how other languages begin to gain strength against the English.

We elaborate this article in order to show to other people as English is considered a very important language in the world and as it has been expanding over time. We mentioned too as its speaker native population has been declining. Through English many people have been able to communicate better in a common language, for example, in the case of science.

Another reason that motivated us to present the article is how people over time will become bilingual or multilingual and English won’t be the only language that people will speak. In the future, Chinese will be one of the dominant languages in the world too.
