Holte Visual and Performing Arts College Background Information

Key facts One of BCU’s neighbouring, partner schools. On the same site: Holte – Secondary School (1,150 students age 11-18) Lozells – Primary and Nursery School (age 4-11) Mayfield – Special School (all ages) At Holte: nearly 90% of pupils for whom English is not their first language. the vast majority of children are from Bengali, Pakistani or Somali backgrounds Nearly 70% of pupils termed ‘disadvantaged’ (from low-income families or in care).

Achievements Judged ‘outstanding’ in all areas by the inspectorate (Ofsted). Student achievement (as measured by value-added scores) is in the top 25% of all schools in England. http://www.holte.bham.sch.uk/

Visit to Holte on 29th November Your contact will be Jane Humpherson (Assistant Headteacher). You will have a tour of both Lozells Primary and Holte Secondary schools. You will be able to interview a group of teachers from both schools – they have been sent the questions in advance. Unfortunately you cannot visit Mayfield special school.
