In conditions of social justice, people are... "not discriminated against, nor their welfare and well-being constrained or prejudiced on the basis of gender, sexuality, religion, political affiliations, age, race, belief, disability, location, social class, socioeconomic circumstances, or other characteristic of background or group membership" (Toowoomba Catholic Education, 2006). http://gjs.appstate.edu/social-justice-and-human-rights/what-social-justice

What social justice issues exist in the world? Access to food, clean water and shelter Access to decent healthcare Income inequality (between world employees/men and women) Environmental Justice https://www.ucmo.edu/adp/documents/Social_Justice_Sample_Topics_fall2012_000.pdf TONS OF OPTIONS!!!

Who should I use for my audience?? Think about people in positions of power/ authority: Leaders of countries Congresspeople Business Owners and CEOS Philanthropists (people with $$ who support charities) …..and many, many more... https://www.ucmo.edu/adp/documents/Social_Justice_Sample_Topics_fall2012_000.pdf TONS OF OPTIONS!!!

Are spelling, grammar, and capitalization being used properly? Did you use 3 or more (dift.)rhetorical devices? (labeled) Have I used at least 3 different, CREDIBLE sources and CITED them correctly in my speech? Have I used MLA formatting? Did I attach a WORKS CITED page to my letter? You can view the rubric at https://goo.gl/DOvgvp (also posted in Google Classroom) Standard for learning: (10) Reading/Comprehension of Informational Text/Persuasive Text. Students analyze, make inferences and draw conclusions about persuasive text and provide evidence from text to support their analysis. Students are expected to: (A) analyze the relevance, quality, and credibility of evidence given to support or oppose an argument for a specific audience; and (B) analyze famous speeches for the rhetorical structures and devices used to convince the reader of the authors' propositions.

Source Card Example (YOU MUST HAVE 3 by FRIDAY)

Where do I start? What cause, or injustice, do I want to address in my argument? What am I trying to persuade my audience of? Who is the audience I am trying to reach and how will that affect my writing?

3. Who is the audience I am trying to reach and how will that affect my writing?I am persuading students at Haltom High School. This influences my writing because I will use social media, posters, and other materials students can see daily. 4. What is your purpose for writing right now? Seeing people waste food everyday in the cafeteria got me thinking that there is no reason why hunger/starvation in other countries should still be an issue today. Example: What cause, or injustice, do I want to address in my presentation? The injustice I will address is the hunger and starvation that occurs in our world. What am I trying to persuade my audience of? I will persuade my audience to donate food to local and global organizations including the Tarrant Area Food Bank and ‘Stop Hunger Now’.
