African Americans and The Depression Agriculture is failing and hurting African Americans- many try to move to Southern Cities or to the North Whites start taking service jobs (janitors, street cleaners, servants, etc) Black Shirts- white organization trying to keep African Americans from getting jobs. “No Jobs For Niggers Until Every White Man Has A Job!” Racism is increasing in the North and South
