CV maintenance works during YETS 2017-2018 S. Deleval

Content Cooling annual maintenance for SF, SU, UW Constraints Surface annual maintenance Resources Plan Conclusion

Reminder SF SU or SUX UW, USA or USC

SF: cooling towers

SU / SUX: chilled and mixed water production

UW: Sectors +TI + RF + Experiments

Coolig: annual maintenance works Complete drainage of primary circuits Mechanical cleaning of cooling towers Check of safety relief valves Filters cleaning Oil replacement (pumps, gear boxes, ..) Greasing Check of motors, pumps, valves, actuators, sensors, air vents,.. Replacement of ions exchangers and regeneration of resins Check of control and power cubicles Control updates, bugs fixing Repairs / replacement of broken components

Example: cleaning filters

Constraints Drainage of primary circuits cannot be done locally. Water must be rejected in Switzerland through the reject loop. Filling must be done with the raw water loops. For closed circuits: water has to be recuperated and or rejected in the waste water circuit. Several services have to keep running during maintenance

Surface ventilation 255 air handling units to maintain (only surfaces units) Filters check / replacement Belts replacement Greasing Check of motors, fans, valves, actuators, sensors, coils,.. Check of control and power cubicles Control updates, bugs fixing Repairs / replacement of broken components

Resources 5 staffs for LHC 2 maintenance contractors 1 water treatment contactor Resources needed from other services: HE, EL, DGS-RP, BE-ICS, SMB Work during closure and several Saturdays Work in parallel YETS 2015-2016 YETS 2017-2018 With cryo running

Maintenance re-organised First two weeks First two weeks

Plan All resource can’t work at the same time in the SF (coactivity) Maintenance Reduction Mitigation Drainage and mechanical cleaning of cooling towers No Check of safety relief valves Oil replacement (pumps, gear boxes, ..), greasing Check of motors, pumps Valves Yes Valves for cryo and general process Actuators Actuators for regulation Sensors Sensors for regulation and interlocks Check of control and power cubicles, control updates, bugs fixing Repairs / replacement of broken components

Conclusion Reduction of maintenance will concern the SF in the last two points that will be planned. SU and UW will undergo the standard maintenance. Risk to affect the reliability is very hard to evaluate. Mitigation by maintaining the most important components.
