ENGLISH, MATHS & SCIENCE. Downs Junior School Year 6 Homework Grid Spring 2: Evolution Revolution. Complete at least 4 tasks (including tasks in bold). OPTION 1:   Fossil Hunt Go on a fossil hunt (try Seaford Head/Seven Sisters/ Peacehaven/Booth Museum). Please bring in any fossils (or photos) that you find! P4C ‘Is keeping a secret bad?’ Consider this with an adult and also consider who you could speak to if you needed to discuss an issue. French Record yourself having a conversation in French. You could be introducing yourself or asking for food in a shop/ restaurant. Capture It! Take a photo of nature e.g. a landscape or an animal. Consider angle, perspective, light and shade and bring in your final photo to display. The World Around You Ask an adult to choose four appropriate newspaper articles to read and discuss. Write ten new facts/opinions that you discovered. Have the articles made you ask any questions? Relaxation Time Create your own story massage using the strokes on the back of this sheet. www.storymassage.co.uk You could also practise some mindfulness or relaxation techniques. You could introduce someone at home to Go Noodle! www.gonoodle.com Shaun Tan Complete by 31st March We will be reading ‘The Lost Thing’ in class. Find out about the author Shaun Tan. You could read another book written by him and write a review. Write a biography about him. Create art work using his style as inspiration. Be prepared Some people enjoy the experience of showing what they can do and what they’ve learnt and they feel quite relaxed about doing tests. Other people feel worried about tests. How do you feel? Complete the ‘Preparing for SATs table’ on the back of the sheet to help you feel ready. Look in your revision guides for anything you are unsure about and answer the questions if you want to. OPTION 2: ENGLISH, MATHS & SCIENCE. Months of the year Please make sure you know how many days are in each month of the year. You could use the well known rhyme to help you or make up your own. How many days are in a year? Why do we have leap years? Punctuation Poster Create a poster explaining when to use a variety of punctuation including: . , : ; - ( ) – Think about your targets and the punctuation you are struggling with. Fact File Who was Charles Darwin? What is he famous for? Why were his ideas controversial? Find out information about Charles Darwin and present your findings in your own way. Maths and P.E. Design a P.E. warm up that also practises an area of maths that you struggle with. Be prepared to teach it to your peers. Don’t forget to also play on Sumdog at home.
