The analysis and rearrangement of the teaching material 教材分析和教材重组 This reading material is from PEP NSEFC Module1 Unit2----English around the World, the reading part. The title of the passage is The Road to Modern English.

This passage talks about the development of English, from old English to Modern English. It gives Ss the chance to have a glance of the history of English language. Besides, the passage contains the main vocabulary of the unit and some sentence structures which are useful for the later learning of this unit. The analysis of learning condition学情分析 Students are in Grade 1. They have already acquired a certain amount of words and expressions which lay the foundation for the understanding of the passage .Though they have learned English for several years, they are still in lack of the background knowledge of the English, such as the development of English, why English changed over time, etc. What’s more, most students can not employ different kinds of reading skills to understand the text freely and they may not be willing to express themselves in spoken English.
